Got oil on the rear tire, tried to hold the slide and highsided.
Six to Eight weeks on crutches, at least a three months before I can run again.
Worth it.

That sucks. I almost highsided my Ninja 1000 taking a turn off a main road into a side road and getting a little hard on the throttle before I realized how cold/slimy the surface was. Thankfully I drifted hard, tapped a knee, then popped up into the handle bars, but didn't snap hard enough to go completely into a highside.
Hope you heal up quickly.

Squid, you say?
I'm sorry, but you've seen too much.

Too much oil in the engine? my klr started spraying oil on the rear tire when i put a little too much in.. scary thought of cornering when i noticed that.

I just did the same thing in November. They gave me all sorts of shiny new metal bits in my leg, followed by three months of no weight bearing, and I am just getting back on my feet now. Hang in there. It is a long haul to get through the no-walking/no-driving period. Hit me up if you have any questions about it.

oooooowwww! yours looks worse than mine. My doc says mine should heal okay without screws or plates, and I'll likely be able to start walking on it in 6-8 weeks.

No, my sprocket bolt came loose and oil leaked from the seal behind the sprocket. apparently a common problem on my bike.

Yeah, mine was pretty bad. I asked the surgeon how many pieces the bone broke into, and she just laughed at me. Is yours the left or right leg?

Right, but I can still drive. I just have to left foot brake.

I debated putting in a "Paging J. Walt" post here when I first saw the post go live.

Damn. You're a lucky sumbitch. Not driving was one of the most frustrating things for me. Much more than not walking. Hope you heal up soon and get back on your bikes!
By the way, that gif of your CT scan is sweet. I wish they gave me one of those for mine.

Yeah, it's weird, I had never heard of a tibial plateau fracture before, but since I broke mine, I have heard from at least 10 people that have broken theirs. I guess it is probably one of those things like when you learn a new word you suddenly start hearing it everywhere.

The last time I highsided a bike my helmet hit the ground hard enough to knock me out, I had amnesia for a good hour, and I broke my collar bone. Looks like I got off easy.
